Join the TLGV Rangers!
The new TLGV
Ranger Program provides formal training to
volunteers who act as representatives of the
organization in outreach programs.
So far eight wonderful people have
finished the training program and are currently
assisting Chief Ranger Bill Reid (also director
of outreach programs) to greet and engage people
at events like Woodstock Fair, Celebrating
Agriculture, the Arts & Crafts Festival at
Roseland Cottage and other
gatherings. The TLGV Rangers
will be available to make presentations to
social and civic groups, as well.
It is our goal to make sure everyone
knows about The Last Green Valley, Inc. and its
vital work. If you are a
member of TLGV and interested in joining the
Rangers, please contact Chief Ranger Bill at Bill@tlgv.org. |

10th Annual Northeast CT
Holiday Dazzle Light Parade
Sunday, November 27th,
5:00 p.m.
(Rain Date Sunday, December
4th)
Would you like to join The Last Green
Valley in the Holiday Dazzle Light
Parade? Last year we
decorated the TLGV canoe with green lights and
"paddled" the entire parade route.
This year we invite our members to join
us with a float of their own (has to be green
lights). With your help we
can have a whole section of the parade light up
with The Last Green Valley green
lights!
If you can't do a float of your own,
consider helping us decorate the TLGV float or
be one of the parade walkers helping to spread
the word about The Last Green Valley. Parade
walkers must be able to walk at a brisk rate for
1.5 miles. Contact Bill Reid
by November 1st if you are interested
in creating a TLGV parade float, helping with
the TLGV "official" float, or
walking. Bill can be reached
at 860-774-3300 or by e-mail at bill@tlgv.org.
And, of course, TLGV Members are
encouraged to come to the parade, enjoy this
wonderful event, and cheer loudly for The Last
Green Valley float(s) and walkers!
Wear a green light, scarf or
hat!
January
Stay tuned to hear about our annual
Eagle Survey in January, part of a national
effort to count American Bald Eagles in the
wild. Chief Ranger Bill will
be announcing details later in the

Stormwater Management
Workshop
Heavy rains can
flood streets quickly if the water isn't drained
- yet that same water picks up contaminants and
washes pollutants into our rivers and
streams. How do we keep our
roads safe while protecting water
quality? Learn more about
Stormwater Management at a free workshop hosted
by The Last Green Valley on Wednesday, October
19, 2011, from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. at Dudley Town
Hall, Room 321A, Veteran's Memorial Hall -
3rd floor.
The program is
geared towards conservation commissions,
planning boards, zoning boards of appeal, boards
of selectmen, city councilors, department of
public work employees, and citizens interested
in better stormwater management.
Topics include: recent developments under
the Massachusetts Stormwater Regulations,
enacting and implementing stormwater ordinances,
bylaws and subdivision regulations, and building
an effective stormwater maintenance
program. The workshop is free
but registration is requested by calling Lois
Bruinooge at 860-774-3300, or emailing
lois@tlgv.org.
A complimentary lunch will be provided,
and professional development hours (PDHs) will
be
offered. |
