Ranger Program

We Need TLGV Rangers. Become one today!

TLGV Rangers are trained volunteers who support the efforts of the organization by presenting information and conducting outreach programs for The Last Green Valley, Inc.  TLGV Rangers are essential to articulating the mission, delivering a message about the work, and recruiting new members for The Last Green Valley, Inc.

In conjunction with TLGV staff, Rangers deliver or assist in delivering presentations to local organizations and community groups.  Rangers also helped to staff TLGV information booths at regional or local community events, fairs and festivals.  Rangers may also have the opportunity to develop and deliver programs for TLGV Members and the general community, e.g. organizing a walk for Walktober or a specific monthly TLGV member-only program.

Bill Reid, Director of Outreach Programs and Chief Ranger, trains and supervises TLGV Rangers. If you are interested in becoming a TLGV Ranger, please contact Bill Reid at 860-774-3300 or email: Bill@tlgv.org.  All rangers receive free training and background materials.  If you enjoy meeting people and you love The Last Green Valley (it’s where you live!), the TLGV Ranger Program is for you.

Ranger Requirements:

  1. All TLGV Rangers must be members of TLGV in good standing.

  2. Rangers should feel comfortable talking about the organization’s mission, message and benefits of membership.  Therefore to qualify as a TLGV Ranger, a member must have participated in at least three outreach programs or community events in the past.

  3. TLGV Rangers must commit to at least one community activity annually and work with staff on approaching community groups and arranging speaking engagements, special events and activities for TLGV participation.

  4. Rangers must wear a TLGV Ranger Identification Badge when volunteering on behalf of the organization (TLGV logo apparel is optional), provide feedback on each outreach activity, and document their volunteer hours.

Ranger Training:

TLGV will provide an in-depth training session on the mission, programs, and long-range plans of the organization.  TLGV will provide exhibits and materials for use at all outreach events and activities, and will coordinate booking and communication regarding events and activities.  TLGV will provide a suggested outline for presentations of approximately 20-30 minutes.  Each TLGV Ranger will receive an official TLGV Ranger Binder containing all pertinent information on the organization for Ranger use in preparing for and conducting outreach events and activities.
